DANCING FOR DUMMIES
Tuesdays, 6:30 – 7:45
1133 Broadway, Suite 508
DON’T LET INJURY, AGE, BODY TYPE, A BROKEN DANCE-HEART, OR FEAR OF WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK KEEP YOU FROM DANCING!
DANCING FOR DUMMIES IS A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO RECONNECT WITH THE JOY OF MOVEMENT.
“Clare has a playful, radical spirit, and a contagious curiosity. She is eager to share her extensive knowledge and skilled at adapting lesson plans to fit the interests of class participants. I’d be there every week if I could!”
“The exploration that you took us through in your class has so redirected my thinking about the Alexander work and about primary control. It has taken me out of the bone/muscle paradigm, which for me tends to always be a doing/fixing/segmented affair. You have helped me put into focus a true sense of the whole, a sense of the expanse of what and who and how we are. There is such a simplicity in it. The “over-upping” in my chest that is my struggle just fell backward, my tongue dropped to the bottom of my mouth and a huge breath came into my back….an aha! like you wouldn’t believe.
Clare, I hope you know the joy you offer as a teacher and as a person. Your excitement and curiosity about what you do is infectious. You set up a beautiful environment in which to explore.”
“Clare’ brilliance is a combination of deep intellectual rigor and accessibility. In her video about the vagus nerve, she explains complex anatomical points in a casual and easily understood style that conveys not only practical and useful knowledge, but also her joy over the process of self-discovery. Similarly, in her latest mind dance blog posts, she uses simple language and an easily applied awareness to dramatically shift the way one’s body moves. I found that, within seconds, I had accessed ease of movement and grace… and was having a darn good time of it! Thank you Clare, for sharing your insights and your joy with us!”
Clare! I will never forget the rotten pain I was in before I went to you! I appreciate that you gave me a path forward. I was a total mess from sitting so much while narrating with horrible back pain. I have done ridiculous things in the past year that should have wrecked my back but because of the work I did with you I have been able to develop so much more strength and mobility – without pain!
